22nd Annual Meeting of the Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery - ASCVTS 2014 Abstract & Surgical Video Instructions and Policies
The Scientific Committee welcomes all delegates to submit their abstracts of original work to be considered for oral and poster presentations or surgical videos at the 22nd Annual Meeting of the Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (ASCVTS 2014). The deadline for abstract submission is January 19, 2014, and acceptance notification will be sent by January 26, 2014. ONLY presenting authors who have registered and paid by January 30, 2014 will be added in the program.
Please follow these instructions to submit an abstract or surgical video for ASCVTS 2014:
- All abstracts must be submitted through the official congress website www.ascvts2014.org
- In order to log onto the submission site, you must have a username and password. Your login information will be sent to you by e-mail.
- The deadline of the abstract or surgical video submission is January 19, 2014 at 11:59 p.m., European Time Zone.
- When submitting an abstract and/or surgical video for review, make sure you click the Submit button one time only. If you do not click the submit button, your abstract/surgical video will be saved in the "drafts" section of the submission site. "Draft” submissions are not submitted for review.
- The abstract must contain original materials, not published or presented at any other international congress prior to the ASCVTS 2014.
- All abstracts must be typed in English and submitted in form of Microsoft Word along with the PDF file, limited to 250 words.
- The text should be single spaced and written using Times New Roman font in point size 12.
- The abstract must consist of four paragraphs: the problem and purpose of study (OBJECTIVE), how the study was performed (METHODS), main findings with numerical and statistical data (RESULTS), and principal conclusion (CONCLUSIONS).
- The title of the abstract should be printed in capital letters; the name(s) of the author(s) should be preceded by the initials. There should be no more than 8 authors.
- The author(s) must also type in the category of the study on the top-left of the abstract; choose one of the following: Adult Cardiac Surgery, Pediatric & Congenital Heart Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Cardiovascular Anesthesia and Perfusion, or Cardiac Nursing.
- Presenting authors are encouraged to submit their CVs at the end of the abstract submission process.
- The confirmation of acceptance will be sent to the author via submitted e-mail.

Surgical Video Specifications
- An abstract must be submitted along with each surgical video submission.
- Information for all authors involved in the submission must be entered via the online submission process. The identity of the authors, institutions and/or names of hospitals should be excluded from the surgical video submission.
- The surgical video may not exceed 8 minutes in length or 100 MB.
- All surgical videos must be submitted in .mov, .avi, or .wmv format. If you do not submit your video in one of these formats, it will not be forwarded for review.
- For purposes of review, sound should be included.
- If the surgical video is selected, live narration by the presenting author is required for participation in the movie program.
• The scientific committee must also receive a CD/DVD of the surgical video being submitted no later than the abstract submission deadline of January 19, 2014. Please include the presenting author's name and the abstract number of the submission for reference.
Awards and Travel Grant
Furuse Award
The Furuse Award is a prize for the best paper submitted to the Annual Meeting, regardless of the author's age. The presenter must be an active member of ASCVTS, and the paper should be come only from institutes or facilities inside of Asian region. The winner will receive an honorarium of 1.200 USD.
Travel Grant
The Organizing Committee ASCVTS 2014 encourages participation from Asian countries. Applicants whose abstracts are outstanding quality will receive Travel Grant 800 USD. The grant is open to doctors in Asia below 35 years old.
Best Poster Award
The Best Poster Award is a prize for the best poster submitted to the Annual Meeting, regardless of the author's age. The prize will be selected from each category of the doctors and nurses. The winner will receive an honorarium.
NOTE:
An applicant for the Awards/ Travel Grant must:
- Be the first author of the abstract and the presenter of either an oral or poster presentation.
- Pre-register for the Congress and complete the payment of registration fee by January 30, 2014.
